Photographer Spotlight: Lachlan Jeffery
Lachlan Jeffery has been shooting cars in Cairns for about a year. He works under the name Frosty and covers the region one on one. The sessions stay focused. High and low angles, interior detail, and rolling shots. No group setup, no fixed location. The car and the owner get the time.

He started the work because the cars themselves were the draw. Seeing them properly, from angles most people never get, is still the part he likes most. A year in, the goal is straightforward. Turn the current jobs into a proper business. Longer term, he wants the name to travel further than the local area.

The approach is practical. He services all over Cairns. Bookings go through Instagram at @_frostyphotos_ or email at frostyphotos07@gmail.com. Sessions cover the usual range: static coverage of the car from every side, close work inside, and movement shots once the car is rolling. He keeps the setup simple so the time goes into the frames rather than the logistics.

Cairns does not have the same density of modified cars as the bigger southern cities, so the work sits where the cars actually are. That has meant learning what different owners want from a session and what the local roads and light actually allow. A year is not long, but it is long enough to see which parts of the process hold up and which ones need to change.

The next step is making the work consistent enough that people book him because they know what they will get. That means more sessions, tighter delivery, and building the small network of owners who already know the name. The longer aim is simply being recognised for the cars he shoots, the same way a handful of other Australian photographers have done it. No set timeline on that. Just keep shooting the cars that turn up.

Lachlan will be back with more work as the sessions stack up. If you are in the Cairns area and need your car covered properly, the details above are the way to reach him.
