PHOTOGRAPHER SPOTLIGHT: its.slow.kei, Brisbane

I'm Nick Steele out of Brisbane. Tradie during the week. Photographer every weekend that matters. Father of two. White Monster in the cooler. Simple as that.

I roll my Daihatsu Hijet kei truck (the nugget) to local meets and events across the SEQ triangle. Mainly Brisbane, but I cover Ipswich up to the Sunshine Coast and back down to the Gold Coast when the call goes out.

Twenty years behind the camera. Most of that time spent locking in landscape and astro work under @nicksteelephoto. Automotive is the new chapter. Only started this year and I am already deep in it.

Long term I want the full time gig. Photography, video, social media, all of it inside the automotive scene. Current mission is simple. Blow up. Act like I do not know nobody. Keep learning video. Push the stills higher. Collaborate with the right people and brands. Always learning. Always refining.

The best part is the people. The cars and bikes are the excuse. The crew is the real reason. This year alone the number of new faces and solid friendships has been ridiculous. People make the meets.

At the events I hunt the vibe. The atmosphere. The crowd. I refuse to shoot the same dead front-on car shot everyone else lines up for. I want the image to put you right there in the thick of it. Candid shots of people are gold. Vibes first. Always.

Massive respect to my wife Cassandra. She puts up with the constant meets and still backs the passion. And shoutout to @boost3d.photography. Day zero supporter. The bloke who keeps pushing me to level up.
